Kate is a journalist who dabbles in photography and coding. She has won awards from the New England Newspaper & Press Association for environmental reporting and profile writing as well as from the Maine Press Association for analysis and spot news photography. Kate has worked at non-profits and in refugee resettlement, in several Maine restaurants and once as a baker. She spent four seasons living aboard a sailboat on the coast of Maine, rode a bicycle from Portugal to Zanzibar and briefly detoured into medical school before settling on journalism.

Kate was awarded an M.S. degree in Journalism with Honors from Columbia University and completed Columbia's 12-week data journalism intensive, The Lede Program. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Bryn Mawr College, loves any food with chickpeas, speaks pretty decent Italian and lives with her partner and dogs on an island in Maine.
